We're hiring for a Canada Summer Jobs position and are making an intentional effort to reach 2SLGBTQI+ youth, black and other racialized youth, and youth with disabilities.
A “Window Cleaner” or as we like to call it at Window Wonders, a “Wonder Washer” is pivotal in delivering an exceptional customer experience and ensuring the best appearance of both interior and exterior windows. Wonder Washers are central to maintaining Window Wonders' 5-star reputation and fostering meaningful connections with customers.
This position goes far beyond window cleaning by providing opportunities for skill development, mentorship, and professional growth. In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, each youth worker will be encouraged to select a skill related to a potential career they want to explore—such as marketing, leadership, or customer service—and take on a related project, like creating a video advertisement for the company if they’re interested in marketing.
Once hired, training is comprehensive and hands-on. Wonder Washers start with a detailed handbook, spend two days of one-on-one training with a co-owner, and receive focused guidance on customer interaction to ensure exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement
- Customer engagement tasks start by using the Jobber software to let the customer know that the cleaner is on their way.
- Build rapport with customers by engaging in conversations that create a personal connection. Wonder Washers are encouraged to chat with the customer rather than making the most of every minute to clean—even if that means for 20 minutes. By speaking to customers, Wonder Washers get exposed to many different careers simply because we are inside peoples homes for several hours. It makes work more enjoyable and leads to referrals.
- Before beginning the job, confirm the customers expectations (i.e. all exterior windows or just the second floor).
- Explain the advantages of Window Wonders' water-fed pole system over traditional methods to demonstrate professionalism and care.
- Distribute our “Thank-You” cards to each customer upon completion and ensure satisfaction before leaving a customers home. Cleaners are responsible for actively asking or suggesting “let us know if you see any spots and we’ll be right back!”
- Window Cleaning Tasks
- Perform both interior and exterior window cleaning with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Utilize the water-fed pole system to clean exterior windows safely and efficiently, adhering to established safety protocols.
- Handle interior cleaning with respect for clients' spaces, minimizing disruption by seeking their input on where to begin.
- Time Management and Invoicing
- Adhere to a well-organized schedule to maximize efficiency.
- Responsible to keep the next customer updated if Window Wonders plans to arrive early or late.
- Using the Jobber software, update completion of the job and automatically send them the invoice or collect cash (if used as a method of payment).
- Equipment Maintenance
- Manage and maintain the water-fed pole system and other cleaning equipment. Each cleaner is given their own set and is expected to take proper care of it.
- Reporting
- Report daily to Owners regarding customer feedback, and any challenges encountered.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of work completed, including any specific customer requests. Add such details to the Jobber software.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the team, sharing insights and experiences to enhance overall service quality. Wonder Washers often work in pairs.
- Participate in team-building activities and events, such as trips to Chilliwack Lake or Whistler, beach outings, and barbecues, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support.
This position is designed to go beyond traditional job responsibilities listed above. Each youth worker is encouraged to choose a skill they wish to develop, such as marketing, sales, or leadership. They will receive mentorship from the co-owners and take on projects that align with their interests, providing valuable career-oriented experiences.
